East Street Apartments

The brief by Foundation Housing was to maximise apartment yield whilst providing maximum amenity and housing diversity.

The approach involved a truncated geometry folding to the steep natural topography of the site. This form was broken into three pods with five different apartment layout types creating different spatial conditions and outlook. A large central courtyard formed to the south which provides a private outdoor space for the occupants. A large northern frontage setback was required for Canning Highway’s road widening.
